How does JamRouter get my guitar and mic into Discord or Zoom?
JamRouter takes your guitar and microphone from your audio interface, runs each through its own VST3 plugins (amp sims, reverb, anything), mixes them, and outputs the result to a virtual microphone device (VB-CABLE). In Discord, Zoom, Teams, or OBS you simply select that virtual mic as your input. Your teacher or listeners hear both, fully processed, at full quality.
How is JamRouter different from general-purpose audio routing tools?
General-purpose virtual mixers are capable software, but they were not designed around musicians: configuring them typically involves routing matrices, a separate plugin host for effects, manual virtual-cable wiring, and significant learning time. JamRouter is purpose-built for performing live online — a setup wizard handles the routing, and VST3 hosting, a precision tuner, a metronome, and a backing-track player are integrated. Most users are playing in their first call within minutes.
What latency can I expect?
With an ASIO interface, monitoring latency is typically under 8 ms — low enough to play live comfortably. JamRouter defaults to small buffers (96–144 samples) and shows a live latency readout so you always know where you stand.
Is JamRouter good for online music lessons?
That is exactly what it was built for. Students and teachers can finally send guitar and voice together at full quality, play along to backing tracks, use the built-in metronome and tuner, and record the lesson — without either side needing any audio-engineering knowledge.
I just want to play guitar for my friends in Discord — isn't this overkill?
That's a great fit. Run Soundcheck once, add your guitar, pick the virtual microphone in Discord, and play. Add an amp sim whenever you want your full tone. (You'll still use the free VB-CABLE driver that Soundcheck can install.)
Do I need to buy anything else?
No. JamRouter uses the free VB-CABLE virtual audio driver (the built-in Soundcheck wizard installs it for you) and hosts the VST3 plugins you already own. Many great amp sims and effects are free.

Does it work on Mac?
Not yet. JamRouter is Windows 10/11 (64-bit) only for now.
Can I record my sessions?
Yes. One click records either what you hear (In-Ears bus) or exactly what your listeners hear (The Feed) as timestamped WAV files.
Will it mess with my normal audio setup?
JamRouter does not change your Windows default playback device. It captures from the devices and sources you choose and sends a mix to the virtual mic you select in Discord, Zoom, or OBS. Optional system-audio capture is opt-in. Built-in limiting helps tame extreme plugin output, but third-party plugins remain third-party software.
